TV enabled WM Smartphone coming to U.S

” The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved the HTC Foreseer for release in the United Sates.The world’s first TV-enabled Windows Mobile Smartphone is expected to be available in this country under the Modeo brand. Powered by Windows Mobile 5.0, it is optimized to receive and playback Modeo’s DVB-H mobile broadcasts. Additionally, the users will be able to take advantage of portable subscription music services to expand their mobile entertainment library.The handset will work on quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. It is equipped with a 200 MHz TI OMAP850 processor, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. For smooth video playback, the users are offered a 2.2-inch color QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) TFT screen and an NVIDIA Go-Force 5500 handheld graphics processing unit.HTC Foreseer also features a micro-SD memory expansion slot, integrated Bluetooth 1.2 short-range wireless networking, and an 1.3-megapixel camera. Its 1150 mAH lithium-ion battery is said to allow up to three hours of TV viewing, four hours of talk time or six days of standby time.The device measures 4.1 x 2.2 x 0.6 inches, and weighs 4.23 ounces.According to early rumors, the handset is likely to debut in the second half of 2006. Palm Treo 700wxPalm has launched the Treo 700wx on the Sprint Network. The 700wx is a EV-DO capable smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition. The 700wx is now available for purchase at Sprint retail locations beginning around $499 depending on available discounts, online availability is expected later this week.The Palm Treo 700wx combines a mobile phone with high-speed wireless data access to email and business applications. Aside from a darker shade of grey color, the 700wx is identical to the 700w in appearance. It also features much of the same software and Palm Treo specific enhancements on top of Windows Mobile.
