HTC Erato: gossips about slim fold smartphone

“HTC S420, a smartphone codenamed HTC Erato hasn’t been officially inaugurated yet, but we have some details on it already. This is a slim folder, being in fact a successor to HTC Star Trek, that was also known under the name of, for example, Qtek 8500. Unlike the predecessor the S420 packs more punch and features inside, specifically 3G capabilities, GPS and boosted CPU speed and built-in memory. The model is expected to start shipping in April, 2007.Specifications for HTC Erato: Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), GPRS, EDGE and UMTS (850/1900/2100 MHz), HSDPA Inner 2,2-inch display with QVGA (240×320 pixels) resolution Outer 1,2-inch display with 128×128 pixels resolution 1,9 Mpix camera and a VGA camera for video calls FM tuner GPS-module basing off SiRF Star III Samsung SC32442 CPU running at 400 MHz 64 Mb of RAM and 128 Mb of flash-memory microSD memory expansion slot Bluetooth 2.0, USB 1.1 960 mAh Li-Ion battery Dimensions – 97,5x52x16,8 mm Weight – 99 grams” via mobile-review.com

Nokia possibly interested in Palm

“Nokia, among other candidates, is said to be in talks to acquire Palm Inc, the creator of the Treo. With a price target of $20 per share, the transaction would cost 2 Billion dollars to the new owner. I do understand why Palm would like to sell: the Treo brand is still flying high, but there are significant clouds on the horizon. On the hardware side, they are under attack by HTC (which, at least, provides some components for the Treo 700w), Samsung, LG and soon, Apple. On the software side, Windows Mobile is making big strides in the smartphone market and Palm will have a hard time to compete. If this speculation is true, it simply means to me that Palm doesn’t think that it can compete in the near future. Either way, I think that the Treo brand will survive – do you?” via ubergizmo.com

HTC S730 (HTC Wings): another dual keypad smartphone

“HTC seems to have like the dual-keypad solutions, as on the Web there is already some info available on the forthcoming HTC Wings smartphone, or HTC S730. This offering adopts the heritage of HTC S710 (HTC Vox) smartphone, announced back at 3GSM Congress in February, but adds to its overall capabilities, being the same dual-keypad side-slider. Unlike HTC S710, the novelty is getting Samsung SC32442 CPU running at 400 MHz, as well as a built-in GPS module and 3G connectivity. At that it remains utterly pocketable and lightweight. Though, it is more likely to be a mistake and the official announcement will dispell these illusions. The release is scheduled roughly for June, 2007. Specifications for HTC Wings:

Samsungs Double Jointed SCH u740 review

“The SCH-u740’s exterior is home to a small but colorful 1″ 65k color (96×96 pixel) display that is positioned above 3 touch sensitive music keys, similar to those on LG’s Chocolate phones. The keys responded to all commands and worked well for us. The only complaint is that there is no way to bring up the phone’s music list or library, forcing you to use the previous and next track keys to skip through to the desired track. Above the display sits the 1.3 megapixel camera’s lens and flash. Around back you will find only the phone’s battery cover and a sticker that indicates where the internal antenna is located.” Read more here:
