RCS Hits 1 Billion Messages a Day—Thanks for Finally Showing Up, Apple

rcs-hits-1-billion-messages-a-day—thanks-for-finally-showing-up,-apple

Google is also announcing today that there are over a billion RCS messages sent every day in the United States. A big reason for this number being so large is, Apple has added support for RCS with iOS 18. Don’t forget that the most popular phone in the US is indeed the iPhone.

RCS has been a struggle for Google, Apple, and even the carriers. With many phones launching without RCS being turned on, and some carriers not working with RCS at all. But now, it seems to be working seamlessly across every device on every carrier. With Apple adding support last year, it greatly increased the awareness of RCS and its adoption of it too.

It appears that Apple, and many other Americans, did “Get the Message”, Google.

Why is RCS so important?

RCS or Rich Communication Services, is the next evolution in texting. While the majority of the world has moved past SMS to things like WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal, the US is still mostly using SMS for communications.

With RCS, you’re able to send out high-quality photos and videos, without them getting compressed and looking like hot garbage.

Apple's Secret Weapon: This AI Could Power Its Smart Glasses

apple's-secret-weapon:-this-ai-could-power-its-smart-glasses

Right now, Apple’s Vision Pro is more like a glorified monitor you can wear on your face. It has its uses, and it is a technological marvel, but it doesn’t do much at the moment. Plus, its size and price mean it’s not something you can use every day. However, Apple has plans for a future pair of smart glasses, and this is the AI model that could run on it.

Meet Apple’s new AI model for its smart glasses

It’s not surprising that the Vision Pro hasn’t become mainstream. Like we said, the size and price put it out of reach for most people. If Apple wants something that can be adopted by the masses, smart glasses are the way to go. But smart glasses aren’t smart without software, which is why, according to a report from 9to5Mac, they speculate that Apple’s new FastVLM AI model could drive the device.

According to Apple’s description of the AI model, “Based on a comprehensive efficiency analysis of the interplay between image resolution, vision latency, token count, and LLM size, we introduce FastVLM—a model that achieves an optimized trade-off between latency, model size, and accuracy.”

The AI model’s core is the FastViTHD encoder,

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Ultimate Buyers Guide

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge featured 2

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has been announced. It is the company’s new high-end smartphone, which is a part of the Galaxy S25 series of devices. It’s the fourth phone that Samsung announced in that family, following the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Those three devices were announced in January, when this phone was teased. Well, we had to wait a bit for its full launch, as it was not announced until mid-May 2025.

With that being said, the Galaxy S25 Edge does share the same processor as its predecessor, and some other details. However, it’s thinner, that’s its main selling point. Even though the other three phones are quite thin, Samsung felt like this one was necessary, and decided to thin it up to 5.8mm. That did, however, affect its battery life, which is something we’ll talk about later on. So, let’s get to it, starting with the specs.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge specs

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge does offer rather powerful specs. It comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. That display supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1-120Hz. It’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Exploring the Sony Xperia 1 VII Key Camera Improvements

exploring-the-sony-xperia-1-vii-key-camera-improvements

These days, when we look at phones, raw power isn’t quite as important as other features. This is because we’ve reached the point where almost every chip offer decent-to-great performance. This means we turn to other features, like batter cameras, as a way of judging a phone, and the Sony Xperia 1 VII aims to be one of the best exponents of this.

Hardware camera changes

The Xperia 1 VII is the latest Sony flagship smartphone. For the most part, it looks like its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI. However, the camera aspect is a key difference as Sony has opted for a better ultrawide sensor. Instead of a 12MP ultrawide, Sony has bumped it to a 48MP. The company has also given it a wider aperture of f/2.0, a slight upgrade over the Xperia 1 VI, which had an aperture of f/2.2. This will help the sensor capture more light, so it should offer better performance in night, indoor and low-light scenarios.

It’s not just a bump in megapixels, though. It’s a bump in physical size. Sony says that the new ultrawide sensor is 2.1x bigger than the previous model.

While Apple made a big deal about its physical Camera Control button on the iPhone 16,

Beats Studio Buds Drop to $99—Because Paying Full Price Is for Suckers

beats-studio-buds-drop-to-$99—because-paying-full-price-is-for-suckers

Amazon has discounted the Beats Studio Buds, bringing them down to just $99.95. That’s good for $50 off of their regular price. This isn’t quite the all-time lowest price for the Beats Studio Buds, but it is pretty close.

The Beats Studio Buds Plus are also discounted to the same $99. These are exactly the same as the Beats Studio Buds, the only difference is the transparent case and earbuds.

The Beats Studio Buds are really great for those who use iOS or Android since they support Google’s Fast Pair. This allows you to simply open the case, and they will automatically appear to connect on your Android phone. So, it is a great pair to get for the new Pixel 7, Galaxy S22 Ultra, or other phones.

Battery life on the Beats Studio Buds is also really good. We’re looking at eight hours of continuous playback and about 24 hours with the carrying case. You also get fast charging here, which gives you an hour of listening time after five minutes of charging.

Apple has included active noise canceling in the Beats Studio Buds, which are perhaps the cheapest pair of truly wireless earbuds that offer ANC.

Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Live Hands-On Images & Video

exclusive:-samsung-galaxy-s25-edge-live-hands-on-images-&-video

Ahead of tonight’s announcement of the Galaxy S25 Edge, we’ve been able to get some hands-on photos of the Galaxy S25 Edge in comparison to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This appears to be a pre-production unit; however, we can still see how much thinner it is compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Keep in mind that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is about 8.2mm thick, which isn’t all that thick for a slab phone.

Samsung will offer the Galaxy S25 Edge in three color variants. There appears to be a silver, black, and what is likely the SilverBlue from the Galaxy S25 Ultra lineup. Far fewer colors versus the other Galaxy S25 models, which is expected as Samsung is expected to make far fewer units of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Samsung is opting for dual cameras on the Galaxy S25 Edge

Surprisingly, the Galaxy S25 Edge will be the first Galaxy S device in quite some time to sport only two rear cameras. Even the cheaper Galaxy S24 FE had three cameras.

We are expecting it to sport a 200-megapixel primary camera that will offer 2x optical zoom via sensor cropping. Along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide.

New iPhone 17 Pro Dummy Video Leaves Nothing to the Imagination

new-iphone-17-pro-dummy-video-leaves-nothing-to-the-imagination

Apple is usually known for its clean and modern designs for its iPhones. Unfortunately, the design of the company’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series has us scratching our heads. If you hoped that the leaked renders and photos you’ve seen were fake, it’s looking less likely by the minute. A new video posted on X by tipster Majin Bu shows off an iPhone 17 Pro dummy unit reflecting what has been leaked.

iPhone 17 Pro dummy unit in video

The latest video shows a dummy unit of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro along with its ridiculous-looking camera module. For some reason, Apple has opted to change the design of the camera module on the phone. It now stretches across the back of the phone. For reference, the current iPhone 16 Pro models have a camera module sitting at the corner of the phone.

Many have noted that this design appears to draw inspiration from Google’s Pixel series. However, Apple’s implementation feels less graceful. There’s a lot of blank space between the camera lenses, flash unit, sensors, and microphone. We’re not sure what the blank space is being used for.

Samsung to Start Mass Production of Tri-Fold Displays Next Month

samsung-to-start-mass-production-of-tri-fold-displays-next-month

The world of foldable phones is about to get a whole lot more interesting. It looks like Samsung Display is gearing up to start mass production of displays for Samsung’s first tri-fold phone. Its factories would come into action as early as next month (June), with a potential launch of the device for the second half of the year.

Industry rumors (via Jukanlosreve on X/Twitter) indicate that Samsung Display will initially produce its tri-fold panels in the range of 200,000 to 300,000 units. Being a brand-new form factor for the company’s catalog, it makes sense that they’ll likely ramp up production based on how the market responds. It’s noteworthy that Samsung has been experimenting with the technology for years. We have even seen it in demos of different display-focused events. However.

First production round of Samsung’s tri-fold displays to begin in June

Rumors suggest that Samsung will name its first tri-fold phone the “Galaxy G Fold.” It’s pretty natural to think this will be a pretty expensive device. The company’s current Galaxy Z Fold models are already expensive, so a product with more advanced display technology will likely be even more so. The Galaxy G Fold will likely cost similarly to the Huawei Mate XT,
