Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge featured 2

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has been announced. It is the company’s new high-end smartphone, which is a part of the Galaxy S25 series of devices. It’s the fourth phone that Samsung announced in that family, following the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Those three devices were announced in January, when this phone was teased. Well, we had to wait a bit for its full launch, as it was not announced until mid-May 2025.

With that being said, the Galaxy S25 Edge does share the same processor as its predecessor, and some other details. However, it’s thinner, that’s its main selling point. Even though the other three phones are quite thin, Samsung felt like this one was necessary, and decided to thin it up to 5.8mm. That did, however, affect its battery life, which is something we’ll talk about later on. So, let’s get to it, starting with the specs.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge specs

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge does offer rather powerful specs. It comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. That display supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1-120Hz. It’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Exploring the Sony Xperia 1 VII Key Camera Improvements

exploring-the-sony-xperia-1-vii-key-camera-improvements

These days, when we look at phones, raw power isn’t quite as important as other features. This is because we’ve reached the point where almost every chip offer decent-to-great performance. This means we turn to other features, like batter cameras, as a way of judging a phone, and the Sony Xperia 1 VII aims to be one of the best exponents of this.

Hardware camera changes

The Xperia 1 VII is the latest Sony flagship smartphone. For the most part, it looks like its predecessor, the Xperia 1 VI. However, the camera aspect is a key difference as Sony has opted for a better ultrawide sensor. Instead of a 12MP ultrawide, Sony has bumped it to a 48MP. The company has also given it a wider aperture of f/2.0, a slight upgrade over the Xperia 1 VI, which had an aperture of f/2.2. This will help the sensor capture more light, so it should offer better performance in night, indoor and low-light scenarios.

It’s not just a bump in megapixels, though. It’s a bump in physical size. Sony says that the new ultrawide sensor is 2.1x bigger than the previous model.

While Apple made a big deal about its physical Camera Control button on the iPhone 16,

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra AM AH 08

Whenever a new smartphone is released these days, companies like Samsung really hone in on specific consumer groups to market these new phones to, and in this case, the company is finding ways to target Gen Z with the Galaxy S25 series. Through a series of new videos, Samsung is showing consumers how they can use Galaxy AI and Google Gemini on the Galaxy S25 phones to do everything from fixing cooking mistakes to studying for exams.

It’s a smart ploy, considering Gen Z is likely to be using AI a lot more than some other age groups. Removing the Gen Z aspect from things, Samsung’s examples for how Galaxy AI and Google Gemini can help you in real life could really apply to anyone. They’re also no doubt rooted in reality. All of the videos target a different problem or question that needs a resolution or answer. As one would have it, the Galaxy AI suite, powered by Google Gemini, can provide these resolutions and answers. All users need to do is ask for help.

Google Pixel Users Report Odd Camera Processing Issues

Google Pixel 9 AM AH 08

Pixel phones are among the best camera phones out there. However, it seems some Google Pixel 9 Pro users are encountering a bit of a hiccup with camera processing. A Reddit user recently voiced their frustration, noting that the photos their phone takes often look quite different from what they see in the viewfinder.

The original post reports the issues from a Pixel 9 Pro. However, several other users have confirmed similar problems from other models, such as the Pixel 8 and even the Pixel 7 series. So, it doesn’t appear to be a bug limited to a particular Pixel generation.

Image processing issues plaguing Pixel phones’ camera

The user explained that the viewfinder image displays the colors accurately. However, upon pressing the shutter button and processing the image, there is a noticeable alteration in the color balance. Interestingly, this happens even with the “Ultra HDR” setting turned off. Tweaking the image resolution between 12MP and 50MP doesn’t seem to make a difference either. They even mentioned that the “Rich color in photos” option, which aims for a wider color format, doesn’t seem to have any effect.

Galaxy S25 FE Could Have a More Powerful Chip Than You Think

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE AH (9)

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 FE later this year. As usual with the FE lineup, the device will be a more affordable variant of the main S25 series. Some recent rumors mentioned discouraging details about the phone’s processor. However, a new leak suggests that the Galaxy S25 FE chip could actually be more powerful than we thought.

Previous reports suggested that the next-generation Fan Edition Galaxy phone would largely mirror its predecessor, the S24 FE, including the Exynos 2400e SoC powering it. This would have both positive and negative implications. On the positive side, the chip has proven to offer decent performance and efficiency. On the other hand, the S25 FE wouldn’t have a power jump.

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chip could power the Galaxy S25 FE

That said, according to Notebookcheck, Samsung has a backup plan tucked up its sleeve: the flagship-level MediaTek Dimensity 9400. This isn’t totally out of left field, considering Samsung has already warmed up to MediaTek chips in its recent Galaxy Tab S10 series. The report also denotes that, currently, the Exynos 2400e is still the frontrunner for the S25 FE’s brains.

The implementation of the Dimensity 9400 chip in the Galaxy S25 FE would be good news for fans.
