Pioneer GPS unit sports Bluetooth and runs on Windows CE

“The AVIC-S1 is said to be one of the first portable GPS receivers from Pioneer that features built-in Bluetooth, although we’ve already seen the technology is so many units elsewhere already. That doesn’t mean you should just scoff and ignore this device, however, because it has a couple of legs up on some competition. I’m not sure if it’s an advantage or a detriment – I’ll leave that up to you to decide – but the AVIC-S1 runs on Windows CE, so at the very least, it should provide for a fairly familiar environment for most of us PC users. The display is a vibrant 320 x 240 touchscreen with 3D maps, and you’ll be sure to get excellent accuracy thanks to the SiRF III chip found here. The 2GB of flash memory will come loaded up with European maps, and the AVIC-S1 comes in your choice of 17 different languages.Pioneer seems to be making this a Europe-only release, at least for the time being, but it is a “portable” model that can be switched between vehicles without too much hassle. ” via mobilemag.com

Music handsets comparison – which one to choose?

“For example model Nokia 6230i may be used for playing back music, though until the very recent times it had lacked a 3.5 mm jack with Fast Port. Apart from that, the 6230i isn’t positioned as a music solution. Now you have a hint about which devices are excluded from this review – such handsets often appear quite attractive for consumers, who require music capabilities only as an addition, rather than a key function. Therefore here we are going to cover devices, initially aimed at the other part of the audience. Theoretically, that is the reason why Siemens S75 and similar solutions left the field, further more, their users still have problems with playing back MP3 files on early firmware versions. Nonetheless, in order to show what the difference between high profile music phones and solutions of that kind is, we decided to let S75 in. Unfortunately most of Samsung models don’t hold a 3.5 mm jack on their casings, and thus are not featured in this very issue, though taking into consideration their similarity, we felt we needed to include one – Samsung X700.” Read this nice comparison at mobile-review.com
