New iPhone: Specs Revealed?

” iPhone rumours gathered pace today with a blog called ‘Apple iPhone Apps’ claiming that an Apple insider had given them information, specifically the specs and release date, of the rumoured new iPhone. The specs the source allegedly outlined aren’t mind blowing, but they are consistent with previous rumours and speculation. If these specs turn out to be true then it would mark more of an incremental upgrade for the iPhone rather than a revolutionary leap forward, at least in terms of hardware. The camera in particular would appear to be taking little more than a baby step if it moves from 2 MP to 3.2 MP in a market where the high-end standard is now 8 MP. As for a release date the source claimed that the new iPhone would be released on 17th July, again a very plausible sounding piece of information.
Here we have the source’s alleged specs for the new device:

  • Price stays at $199 and $299
  • Storage 32GB and 16GB
  • 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording and editing
  • Send a picture & video via MMS
  • OLED touchscreen
  • FM transmitter
  • Built-in compass
  • Battery life 1.5 times current models
  • Twice the RAM and processing power
  • No metal band around the edge of the device
  • Apple logo on the back will glow
  • Rubber-tread backing
  • Sleeker design
  • Geo-tagging using Google maps
  • Turn-by-turn directions” via mobile-review.com
