Announcing the release of bada SDK 1.0.0b2, available to all developers!

Samsung releases Bada SDK for developers who want to get ahead of the Wave

We are happy to announce a beta release of the bada SDK, Samsung’s new open mobile platform. With this release, you can create your own applications. These applications can be deployed and tested on the Wave phone, which is Samsung’s first bada-powered device.

The SDK includes several components: an integrated development environment (IDE), Simulator, UI builder, sample applications, documentation and tutorials. Samsung bada’s IDE is based on the Eclipse CDT (C/C++ Development Tools), which is a popular development environment used by many mobile developers. The Simulator provides a local test environment without the need for a physical handset.

The bada platform allows developers to create feature-rich applications that elevate the user experience in mobile spaces. A new UI framework is provided, which supports the next generation Samsung TouchWiz UI. Samsung bada also supports a control for Adobe®Flash®, a web browser control, motion sensing, fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection, which open up new possibilities for greater creativity and user interactivity. Samsung bada introduces several new service-centric capabilities that differentiate it from conventional mobile operating systems. The various service-centric features such as social networking, content management, location-based services, and commerce services –are all supported by back-end bada servers.

You’ll be able to access the SDK through the Samsung bada developer website (developer.bada.com). There you’ll find a range of resources to get you started developing for bada such as bada tutorials, the bada API reference documentation, and the bada developer guide. In addition, you can communicate with other bada application developers and bada technicians through the online forums. These are available for all bada developer site members. Membership is free and open to anyone — so join today.

If you have any comments or questions, please visit the Forum on our Developer site. We will continue to improve and extend this platform with more features and functionality and we always value your input. This SDK release is one of the first steps on an exciting journey to our mobile platform.
