Sony unveils Xperia XZ flagship and Xperia X Compact

“One of the highlights of the new Xperia XZ is its main 23MP camera with f/2.0 lens. It may look the same on specs, but Sony developed a new IMX300 sensor for the XZ and X Compact, which offers a new autofocus system. Now the camera uses color detection, phase detection, and laser-assist to measure distance correctly and track intelligently moving objects. This setup is called Triple Image Sensing and should provide always accurate focus for your images and videos.” Read more here:

HTC One A9s goes official, and no, it’s not an upgrade

“The One A9s keeps the main camera at 13MP, but it’s a new sensor with a narrower f/2.2 aperture, and it lacks optical image stabilization. The selfie snapper is another swap – instead of 4MP UltraPixel camera the One A9s relies on a regular 5MP 4:3 sensor with f/2.8 aperture and 1080p video recording. Besides the flagship-grade shell, the One A9s gets to keep the fingerprint scanner, it’s connectivity options, and even comes with a slightly bigger 2,300 mAh battery. The phone runs on Android Marshmallow with the latest HTC Sense launcher. There is no word on Nougat update just yet, but HTC likes to update its latest devices.” Read more here:

Lenovo K6, K6 Power, and K6 Note are official

Lenovo K6 family: vanilla K6 Lenovo K6 family: K6 Power Lenovo K6 family: K6 Note

“Amidst all the clamor around its high-profile announcements at IFA (you know, the Moto Z Play, Hasselblad MotoMod, Yogas), Lenovo has also thrown in a few affordable mid-rangers. The K6 family (no “Vibe” this time) consists of three models, the plain Lenovo K6, K6 Power, and K6 Note, and they share a lot of the same specs. It all starts with the Snapdragon 430 chipset that powers all three, and that means an octa-core CPU with 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 1.5GHz, and another 4 capped at 1.2GHz. The Lenovo K6 proper has 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of storage, the Power comes in 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB flavors, while on the K6 Note internal storage is set at 32GB, but RAM is either 3GB or 4GB. All models take microSD cards for storage expansion” Read all here:

Samsung Galaxy Note7 unveiled with a 5.7 curved screen, IP68 rating

Riding on a wave of rumors and hype, the Samsung Galaxy Note7 has landed. The new flagship will help Samsung venture deeper into several market segments. The Note7 is tough. It’s the first Note to be waterproofed – IP68 rating certifies it for depths beyond 1m. The phone’s metal frame is sandwiched between two symmetrically curved sheets of Gorilla Glass 5. The new Blue Coral option paints the metal and accents in gold, the rest in blue. The Note7 has an amazing screen. Samsung kept to the 5.7″ Super AMOLED formula but curved it on both sides like an edge phone. It has QHD resolution, naturally, but is among the first mobile displays to feature HDR support – a feature borrowed from 4K TVs that allows the screen to show more colors and scenes with very high contrast. There’s 1.5GB of RAM, plus 16GB of expandable storage to finish the picture of an entry-level device. On the physical side of things, the Xperia E5 measures 144 x 69 x 8.2 mm and weighs in at 147g, which includes the 2,700 mAh battery pack. Meizu PRO 6 unveiled: with 5.2 AMOLED screen with 3D Press

Meizu-PRO-6.jpg

he Meizu PRO 5 launched in September and had monster specs now half a year later the Meizu PRO 6 launches and it’s… smaller? Yep, Number 6 comes with a 5.2″ screen. As expected it’s a Super AMOLED with 1080p resolution, but the size took us by surprise as the PRO 6 was 5.7″ and even the MX5 was 5.5″. The “killer feature” of the new screen is 3D Press, Meizu’s alternative to 3D Touch. In fact, it seems that Apple was the motivation behind going smaller – the iPhone SE did it. Curved Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen. The Meizu PRO 5 is powered by MediaTek Helio X25 chipset – the 10-core processor and Mali-T880 GPU have been overclocked from the X20. You get 4GB of RAM too (so much for the rumored 6GB). The company positioned the camera as the big draw. It has an interesting 10-LED dual-tone flash arranged in a circle (but this is not a ring flash, mind you). The sensor has 21.1MP resolution and measures 1/2.4″. The camera also boasts Laser and phase-detection AF. Read more here:
